About
Brittney Canda is a Montreal-based director, choreographer, and dancer known for her bold fusion of contemporary dance and cinematic storytelling. Her work is imaginative, visceral, and deeply rooted in movement as a narrative force. She co-directed and choreographed WRAP ME UP by Sheenah Ko, which won Best Choreography at the UKMVAs and earned a Juno nomination. She also co-directed Hannorah’s The Drudge, featured at Flux in Los Angeles, and created the award-winning dance film TOUCH with Trip the Light Fantastic.
Brittney’s distinctive approach merges theatricality, absurdity, and raw emotion, shaping dynamic, physically expressive performances. She has choreographed for celebrated artists like Celine Dion, Elisapie, The Barr Brothers, Owen Pallett, and Patrick Watson, as well as the TV series L’air d’aller, which won the Student Jury Prize at Canneseries.
Her latest work includes The Smile Club, a surreal dance horror film, and LADY, an experimental contemporary dance-theatre piece developed with longtime collaborators, Naomi Gwynn and Sylvia Berman. Dedicated to fair practices in dance and film, she prioritizes ethical hiring, professional standards, and dancer safety in all her projects.
Whether on stage or screen, Brittney’s work pulses with life, balancing precision with chaos, beauty with irreverence, and movement with meaning.
